Teenagers Arrested for Arson of Vehicles

Two young women were apprehended after igniting one civilian vehicle and attempting to set another on fire. For their actions, they may face long-term imprisonment.

This was reported by law enforcement authorities.

During curfew hours, they set fire to a 'Kia' car belonging to a local woman parked near her home. Firefighters quickly extinguished the flames and alerted the police about the incident.

According to an analysis conducted by the criminal analysis department of the Odessa regional police, it was determined that the arson involved two local women, aged 17 and 18.

One girl, looking for an 'easy' job through a messaging app, was recruited to commit arson on military and police vehicles for financial reward. She was allowed to ignite any vehicle marked with a white cross. She involved her 18-year-old friend in this scheme.

The girls selected a vehicle that met the 'curator's' requirements and waited for nightfall, marked it with a cross, doused it in flammable liquid, and set it ablaze. They recorded the process on a phone for confirmation.

Later, they planned to ignite another 'Renault' vehicle parked near the owner's residence.

Police detained the girls just before they could commit the crime. They seized flammable materials, a lighter, tape, and other items prepared for the arson, as well as mobile phones containing correspondence with the client.

Investigators detained the girls and charged them with intentional damage to property and attempted intentional damage to property through arson by prior conspiracy. According to the Criminal Code of Ukraine, they face up to 10 years in prison.

The court imposed house arrest as a preventive measure. Investigative actions are ongoing under the supervision of the local prosecutor's office.
