Arrest of Odessa Man for Sexual Assault and Drug Possession
A 47-year-old resident of Odessa, previously convicted for theft and robbery, has been charged with two criminal offenses. He is currently in custody.

In July of last year, a woman from Odessa reported to the police about sexual assault committed against her 15-year-old daughter.
Authorities found that the assailant, while intoxicated, approached the girl on the street, offered to take her on a shortcut to the city center, and then lured her to a deserted place where he committed sexual violence against her.
Within a few hours, police were able to identify the perpetrator, who had a prior record for theft and other crimes.
The police located the man and during an urgent search of his home, seized 4-MMC, a prohibited psychotropic substance that he had purchased for personal use.
Investigators detained the offender under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. The court imposed a preventive measure of detention.
«During the pre-trial investigation, conducted under the procedural guidance of the Primorsky District Prosecutor's Office of Odessa, the police collected sufficient evidence, including forensic conclusions, based on which charges were brought against the individual under part 3 of Article 153 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – for sexual assault against a minor without her consent, as well as under part 1 of Article 309 of the same code – for illegal possession of psychotropic substances without intent to sell», said investigator Valeria Buliga.
The investigation is complete, and the indictment has been sent to court. The offender faces up to seven years in prison.
