SECI Delegation Visits Odesa

A delegation from SECI — the South-East European Cooperation Initiative visited Odesa. The group, led by Executive Coordinator Mr. Michael Facekas, is delivering humanitarian supplies to the Kherson and Mykolaiv regions, which include generators, computers, and medical and rehabilitation equipment.

Mr. Facekas confirmed that, as promised during the previous meeting, a humanitarian shipment is being prepared specifically for Odesa.

During the dialogue, urgent city needs and expected challenges were discussed, including ensuring a stable heating season.

“Thank you for supporting the southern communities and for our meaningful meeting. Our military on the front has their tasks, and we support them in every way. But here, on the ground, their families, children, and displaced persons remain. We must ensure the city's functioning and are working on it, despite all difficulties,” emphasized Odesa's Mayor Gennadiy Trukhanov.

Additional energy sources, particularly solid-fuel boilers, can provide crucial support for Odesa. Currently, the city has 8 such facilities in reserve, but considering various scenarios of enemy attacks on critical infrastructure, the Odesa City Council is discussing the possibility of increasing their number to ensure uninterrupted social infrastructure functioning.

“We will be back to you very soon,” assured Mr. Michael Facekas.
