New Memorial for Ukraine's Heroes Opens in Odesa
On the Day of Remembrance for Defenders of Ukraine, Odesa proudly inaugurated a new Alley dedicated to fallen heroes.
Hundreds of families from Odesa, alongside local authorities, military personnel, and veterans, gathered to pay tribute to those who sacrificed their lives for our freedom and future dreams.
Ruslan Prykhodko, the Deputy Minister for Veterans Affairs, expressed gratitude to the team that worked on the memorial's establishment:
«This is not just a place of remembrance, but a cornerstone of our national identity».
The Heroes' Alley in Taras Shevchenko Park currently features over 200 names, although the number of fallen heroes is sadly much higher.
Odesa Mayor Hennadiy Trukhanov stated that the Alley will be updated with the names of defenders who perished since 2014.
Additionally, work is being done with the families of the fallen to create a Memorial at one of the city's cemeteries.
Moreover, the landscaping of the Glory and Freedom Square and the Memorial to Fighters for Ukraine is ongoing.
«For me, these are not just projects; they symbolize our memory, our gratitude, and our promise to never forget! These are places where we can gather and support each other in remembrance», - mentioned Hennadiy Trukhanov.
Together, we preserve the memory of those who fell and continue their legacy by striving for a better life for all of us.
