Forum on Financial Resilience: Opportunities for Communities

On October 3-4, 2024, Lviv hosted the forum «Financial Resilience: Opportunities for Communities» as part of the Ukrainian Resilience Week.

This event brought together representatives from local government, Ukrainian and international financial institutions, as well as experts in the field of local finance.

During the forum «Financial Resilience: Opportunities for Communities» under the event «Let’s Meet in Lviv Under the Umbrella of Finance», participants included Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi; First Deputy Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleksandr Korniienko; Head of Lviv Oblast State Administration Maksym Kozytskyi; EU Delegation representative Asier Santillan; Deputy Head of USAID «HOVERLA» Mariyan Yukich; Deputy Minister of Finance Olha Zykova; Financial Director of Graz Municipality (Austria) Johannes Müller; USAID «HOVERLA» experts Valentina Tymoshchuk and Natalia Korien; and advisor to the Association of Ukrainian Cities Oksana Prodan.

Odesa was represented by the acting director of the finance department Andriy Zarytskyi.

Participants discussed crucial issues in local finance and sought solutions for achieving financial resilience and economic development of communities.

As part of the event, a training visit was made to the UNBROKEN National Rehabilitation Center, which provides comprehensive medical assistance to military personnel and civilians who have lost limbs.

Panel discussions addressed important topics such as cooperation with international financial organizations, local tax administration, the powers and responsibilities of local financial authorities, tools for bank-municipality cooperation, local governments on the path to Eurointegration, mid-term and long-term planning, energy independence of communities, and inclusive labor market programs.

The event was organized with the support of the USAID project «HOVERLA».
