Fast-Track Cities 2024 Conference in Paris: Achievements and Future Goals
The Fast-Track Cities 2024 Conference will take place in Paris from October 13 to 15, 2024.
The goal of this event is to summarize ten years of a global network uniting over 550 cities in the fight against HIV, hepatitis, and tuberculosis, and to outline the directions for the next decade.
Odesa, which signed the Paris Declaration in 2017, has made significant progress, presented by the city’s mayor, Hennadiy Trukhanov.
Since 2017, funding for urban programs has increased more than fourfold. Currently:
- 98% of people living with HIV know their status;
- 96% are receiving treatment;
- 96% have an undetectable viral load.
Special attention is given to high-risk groups, which are supported by multidisciplinary teams. A program to assist individuals with mental health issues related to substance use has been implemented.
Despite the war, no social program has been cut; instead, Odesa has expanded its support for vulnerable populations.
This year's conference topics focus on addressing the needs of vulnerable communities and sharing experiences to achieve fair and inclusive health outcomes.
“Currently, creating a barrier-free environment is a crucial issue for us. The experience of Paris in hosting the Paralympic Games is inspiring. I am convinced that further collaboration and interaction will allow us to make even greater progress in all areas of society, where the main value is human health and the creation of equal opportunities,” said Hennadiy Trukhanov.
