Assault on Military Personnel in Odesa: Incident Details
The incident occurred on February 22 on Italian Boulevard, where law enforcement apprehended a suspect for assaulting a soldier.
It has been established that a 28-year-old resident of the Berezivsky district initiated a conflict with TCC personnel during a document check.
The man sprayed tear gas in the face of one of the soldiers and fired several shots in his direction before fleeing. The victim was hospitalized,
– the police reported.
Subsequently, operatives detained the offender, who was handed over to the Security Service of Ukraine for further investigation.
Response from TCC to the Assault
- The Odesa regional TCC has already responded to the assault, stating that the suspect refused to comply with lawful demands from military personnel to present military registration documents.
- "He sprayed tear gas in the face of one of the soldiers and fired several shots at him before attempting to escape," – stated the TCC.
- The Security Service of Ukraine has initiated criminal proceedings under Article 114-1 of the Criminal Code regarding interference with the lawful activities of the Armed Forces. The TCC emphasized that such actions are classified as serious crimes that entail severe penalties. The materials have been forwarded to the court for determining preventive measures.
- The TCC also stressed that violence against military personnel is unacceptable and that military service is the duty of every citizen.
- "Citizens must understand that any resistance against military administration directly affects the country’s defense capability," – highlighted the TCC.
