Military Instructor Arrested in the Odesa Region on bribery charges.
This information was confirmed by the Odesa police on February 21.
Law enforcement determined that the serviceman demanded 50,000 hryvnias for assisting in the processing of military registration documents.
"For this amount, the offender promised to influence military officials at the local recruitment center to issue documents for deferment, allowing the citizen to avoid checks and move freely," the official statement reads.
According to reports, the recruitment center employee later reduced the amount to 20,000 hryvnias and was arrested after receiving this sum. The money was seized as evidence.
The Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the Southern Region stated that the serviceman took the man's passport to ensure the payment:
"In January 2025, the suspect again offered his 'assistance,' lowering the bribe to 20,000 hryvnias. Pressured, the citizen reported it to the authorities and acted under their guidance."
The arrest took place on February 19. The man was charged under Part 3 of Article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which carries a penalty of up to eight years in prison with property confiscation. The question of a preventive measure is currently being resolved.
