Corruption Arrest in Odesa Region
In the Odesa region, law enforcement officers have arrested the deputy head of the medical commission at a district hospital for accepting a bribe of $6,000 to assist in discharging a serviceman. The investigation has raised charges, and the official faces imprisonment and asset confiscation.
According to the press service of the Odesa Regional Police, the arrested official conspired with unidentified personnel from the military medical center to help a soldier get discharged for health reasons, demanding $6,000 for his "services." This sum was to secure medical documents justifying the soldier's discharge.
"During the operation, police documented the acceptance of the bribe in two installments and the transfer of the promised medical documents, leading to the suspect's arrest."
Based on the evidence collected, investigators charged the offender under Part 3 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine for receiving illegal benefits as a public official. This crime is punishable by up to 10 years in prison and a ban on holding certain positions.
The court has imposed a preventive measure in the form of detention with the right to post bail set at 908,400 hryvnias. Efforts are underway to identify other individuals involved in the scheme."
