Heroes of the Volunteer Day: Commemoration and Honor
On March 14, Ukraine honors its heroes - volunteers who, without military training, chose to take up arms to protect their homeland during critical times.
This date was chosen for a reason. On March 14, 2014, the first volunteers departed from Maidan to a training base in Novi Petrivtsi, where they began preparing to fight for Ukraine's territorial integrity.
Today, our nation is undergoing one of the greatest challenges in its modern history - armed conflict with the Russian aggressor for independence and territorial integrity. And, as always in the toughest times, brave volunteers rise to defend their homeland, becoming symbols of sacrifice and heroism.
In honor of Volunteer Day, a ceremonial laying of flowers took place at the Memorial to Fighters for Ukraine in the Square of Glory and Freedom in Odesa.
Throughout March, cultural, artistic, and educational events related to this theme will be held in educational institutions and libraries.
