Meta Introduces New Llama 4 Language Model
On Saturday, Meta Platforms announced the release of its latest language model version, named Llama 4, which includes Llama 4 Scout and Llama 4 Maverick.
Reuters reported this news.
According to Meta, Llama is a multimodal artificial intelligence system.
Multimodal systems can process and integrate various types of data, including text, video, images, and audio, and can convert content between these formats.
Meta further revealed that Llama 4 Maverick and Llama 4 Scout will feature open-source software.
The company also mentioned its preview of Llama 4 Behemoth, which it described as “one of the smartest LLMs in the world and our most powerful, set to serve as a teacher for our new models.”
Major tech firms are heavily investing in artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure following the success of OpenAI’s ChatGPT, which transformed the tech landscape and encouraged investments in machine learning.
On Friday, The Information reported that Meta had postponed the launch of the latest version of its LLM, as Llama 4 did not meet the company’s expectations during technical testing, particularly in reasoning and mathematical tasks.
The company was also concerned that Llama 4 was less capable than OpenAI’s models in conducting human-like voice conversations, the report added.
