Alina Komashchuk: Silver Medal at European Fencing Championship
Olympic champion Alina Komashchuk from Odessa has achieved a significant milestone in her sports career by winning a silver medal at the European Fencing Championship held in Genoa, Italy.
This was confirmed by the Ukrainian Fencing Federation.
On June 15, Alina Komashchuk once again showcased her remarkable skills by securing silver at the continental championship in Genoa.
In the final match among sabre fencers, Komashchuk faced the reigning European champion from France, Sara Nutchy, losing with a score of 6:15.
On her way to the finals, the Ukrainian displayed outstanding form, first defeating the Italian fencer Mariella Viale, a junior world and European championship medalist, and then overcoming the strong Polish sabre fencer Sylwia Matuszak in the semifinals.
This silver medal marks a significant achievement for Komashchuk, as she had previously won medals at European Championships only as part of a team, and this is her first individual honor.
