Invictus Games: A Winter Challenge for Veterans

The inaugural winter hybrid Invictus Games will commence today at 23:00 in Whistler and Vancouver (Canada) and will continue until February 16.

Let’s introduce another participant from Odesa.
Illia Pylypenko, a naval soldier of the Armed Forces, veteran. He sustained injuries in September 2022 due to a tank explosion on a mine near Bilohirka, Kherson region.

«I am currently promoting the veteran movement in Odesa. I enjoy life. I swim in the sea. I’ve started to appreciate small details and joys. Sometimes I feel like a child. After training, I enter the sea with so much joy, it’s comparable to the relief of being able to wash after a week in a tank», – shares Illia Pylypenko.

At the Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler - 2025, our compatriot will compete in the following events: wheelchair basketball, 100-meter sprint, 400-meter run, 50-meter freestyle swimming, 50-meter breaststroke, and 100-meter freestyle swimming.
