U23 Ukrainian Wrestling Championship Held in Zvyagel
From January 28 to February 1, the U23 Ukrainian Wrestling Championship was held in Zvyagel, Zhytomyr region.
A total of 229 athletes from all over Ukraine participated in the competition.
In the men's category under 74 kg, Vitaliy Malenko, a student of the Odessa Specialized Children's and Youth Sports School of Olympic Reserve No. 14, represented the region.
Throughout the tournament, the Odessa athlete achieved three early victories with an overall score of 31:0 (10:0, 10:0, 11:0). In the finals, he did not allow his opponent, Bohdan Oliinyk from Poltava, to score any points, and he himself also scored none – 0:0. The Poltava athlete won based on additional criteria.
This result qualifies Vitaliy for the honorary title of «Master of Sports of Ukraine».
The athlete was trained by coach Viktor Yefeteni.
