Veterans in Odesa Embrace Pickleball for Rehabilitation
Adaptive sports serve as a vital tool for reintegration into civilian life and for both physical and psychological socialization.
In the Peresyp district of Odesa, the first pickleball training session was held for veterans and their spouses. Representatives from the Odesa City Council's Department of Veterans Affairs also participated.
Pickleball combines elements of tennis and badminton and is notable for its high level of inclusivity. This sport is open to individuals of all physical fitness levels.
The training was conducted by veteran Mykhailo Zimin, who advocated for the inclusion of pickleball in rehabilitation programs.
“We continue to support initiatives aimed at developing veteran policy in close cooperation with the community and the veterans themselves,” noted Vladimir Yermakov, the director of the Department of Veterans Affairs.
