New Year Celebrations in Odesa: Preparing for Magical Moments
In Odesa, preparations for the New Year and Christmas celebrations are in full swing. Recently, municipal workers began erecting the main Christmas tree on Deribasivska Street.
This year's tree stands at 20 meters tall and 9 meters wide, topped with a traditional Christmas star. A distinctive feature this year is the decoration of the tree with elements of Ukrainian design and ribbons in the colors of the national flag.
The official opening is scheduled for December 6, coinciding with St. Nicholas Day.
«On St. Nicholas Day, we will unveil the main Christmas tree and host a festive concert organized by the Department of Culture, International Cooperation, and European Integration. Guests can expect a concert from the Odesa Municipal Band of Wind Instruments named after O. Salik, along with performances from talented children – students of creative institutions in the city. Additionally, festive events will take place in various municipal establishments, including the zoo,» stated Ivan Liptuga, the director of the department.
Due to martial law and curfew restrictions, mass street celebrations on New Year's Eve are not planned.
