Solar Power Initiatives in Odesa's Educational Institutions
Educational institutions in Odesa are increasingly adopting alternative energy sources. Since the onset of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine by the Russian Federation in 2022, the energy infrastructure has suffered significant damage, leaving many public and communal organizations with unreliable electricity supply.
In the face of blackouts, solar power plants have emerged as a crucial alternative for ensuring stable electricity supply.
With the support of the Lithuanian solar energy company UAB Okata, a project to install solar panels is being implemented at Odesa's lyceums No. 86, 81, 9, 62, 92, and at the preschool institution “Yasla-Sadok” No. 195.
This project ensures complete energy independence for educational institutions, allowing them to continue educational and developmental processes even during power outages.
Moreover, utilizing solar energy will significantly reduce budget expenditures on energy resources.
In light of the ongoing attacks on the energy system, the installation of solar power plants is a vital step towards promoting clean energy sources.
In the Odesa region, UAB Okata is actively developing a solar power installation project, which is fundamental to energy independence and a safer future. The implementation of this project began in August 2023 after signing an agreement with the Environmental Projects Management Agency under the Ministry of Environment of the Republic of Lithuania. The Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Lithuania in Odesa and the Odesa region serves as the project coordinator.
