Celebrating 10 Years of Rehabilitation Services
The rehabilitation department of City Hospital No. 8 in Odesa is celebrating its 10th anniversary. The service commenced in 2015 when rehabilitation beds were established in one of the hospital's therapeutic units. Over time, with the renovation of a separate building, a specialized rehabilitation and recovery department was created.
This department offers both inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation for patients with musculoskeletal disorders, neurological diseases, and those recovering from strokes.
In the first nine months of this year, nearly 500 outpatient rehabilitation services were provided, and over 200 patients underwent inpatient rehabilitation. These services are offered free of charge under the state medical guarantee program with a referral from a family or specialized doctor.
The department is constantly evolving, incorporating modern rehabilitation equipment. This year, with support from the city authorities, the hospital received new equipment, including an automatic treadmill with support, devices for passive development of upper and lower limbs, and stair-climbing simulators, as well as an updated range of physiotherapy devices.
Staff at Hospital No. 8 regularly participate in training sessions, gaining new knowledge, and attending scientific and practical conferences, seminars, and rehabilitation workshops. Additionally, in collaboration with the relevant department of Odesa National Medical University, intern doctors are being trained in physical and rehabilitation medicine at the rehabilitation department.
The modern equipment, the implementation of cutting-edge technologies, and the continuous professional development of medical staff enable City Hospital No. 8 to provide effective rehabilitation services and improve the quality of life for patients after completing their rehabilitation. This is particularly relevant now amid the full-scale war, where there is an increased demand for medical rehabilitation for Ukraine's defenders.
