Military Contribution to Blood Donation: Importance and Necessity
Once again, the military personnel from the Odesa border unit of the Southern Regional Directorate of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine have joined the city project «Donor Odesa».
About twenty border guards participated in the collective donation, most of whom are regular blood donors. The military well understands the importance of having a blood reserve during wartime, which can save the lives of comrades, injured civilians, and anyone in need of urgent medical assistance.
«For us, protecting Ukraine consists not only of combat duties and daily service at the border. It is also about being ready to lend a helping hand to those fighting for their lives in hospitals,» say the border guards.
Each blood donation can save up to three lives. Donating blood not only gives someone else a chance at life but is also beneficial for the donor's health, provided there are no medical contraindications.
The «Donor Odesa» project has been actively involved in recruiting blood donors for civilian and military medical facilities since the early days of the full-scale war, providing over 14,000 blood donations.
Today, it is extremely important for every Ukrainian who is eligible to donate blood to participate in this initiative.
