Rehabilitation Services in Odesa: New Initiatives and Support
This year, over 5000 patients received rehabilitation assistance at healthcare facilities in Odesa.
Thanks to contracts with the National Health Service of Ukraine, residents and internally displaced persons can access free rehabilitation services.
Seven medical establishments provide outpatient rehabilitation for adults and children. In the first nine months of 2024, more than 3600 patients received services, including over 1500 children.
Four hospitals offer inpatient rehabilitation, with approximately 1500 patients receiving these services this year, including 825 children.
Adaptive sports play a crucial role in comprehensive rehabilitation, helping our defenders and veterans improve their health and integrate into society.
The Department of Health of the Odesa City Council actively collaborates with NGOs to develop adaptive sports, including basketball, golf, table tennis, and more. Portable adaptive golf courses are being established at medical facilities.
Specialized transport from the City Emergency Medical Center allows for the transportation and medical escort of patients and veterans to healthcare facilities for rehabilitation and wellness activities.
To create an accessible environment, the Department of Health engages NGOs in collaboration. In September 2024, a memorandum was signed with the organization “Barrier-Free” to provide vehicles equipped with lifts.
A department for coordinating rehabilitation services has been established within the Department of Health, ensuring effective rehabilitation processes. The head of the department, leading rehabilitation specialist Vasyl Rybak, personally meets with veterans weekly and coordinates multidisciplinary rehabilitation teams.
