Unexpected Encounter at Zoo: Serval Meets Lions

At the Odessa Zoo, an unexpected situation arose when a serval, a predatory mammal from Africa, entered the lions' enclosure. Zoo staff quickly managed to separate the animals, and fortunately, no one was harmed.

The zoo director, Igor Bilyakov, reported that on May 15, the serval climbed into the lions' area, where the lions showed curiosity but did not harm the animal. The details of how this incident occurred remain unclear.

"The serval escaped from its enclosure and climbed into the lions'. I want to emphasize that it was completely unharmed. I saw headlines in Telegram channels about blood. There was no blood. The lions did not touch the serval; it was entirely uninjured. We managed to secure one lion and had to put another to sleep, and then we could enter the enclosure and retrieve the serval. Everything went well," said Igor Bilyakov.
