Negotiations Between Ukraine and Russia in Istanbul
On May 16, negotiations will occur in Istanbul between the Ukrainian and Russian delegations, also including representatives from the US and Turkey.
This was reported by the Turkish news agency Anadolu, citing sources within the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
According to Anadolu, Turkey's Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan will participate in the meeting, while the US delegation will be led by Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
Officially, the parties have not confirmed the negotiations in this format for Friday.
For these talks initiated by Russian President Vladimir Putin, Russia sent a low-level delegation headed by Putin's assistant Vladimir Medinsky.
In light of this, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio does not see potential for breakthroughs in the negotiations between the Ukrainian and Russian delegations in Istanbul.
Meanwhile, on May 15, President Volodymyr Zelensky approved the composition of the Ukrainian delegation for the negotiations in Istanbul, led by Defense Minister Rustem Umerov.
