Memorial for Fallen Heroes in Odesa
In Odesa, efforts are ongoing to establish a Memorial dedicated to fallen soldiers at one of the city’s cemeteries.
During a recent meeting with the families of the fallen heroes and veteran organizations, three designs for gravestones were selected, each available in two variations.
Samples of materials for their production, including granite and sandstone, were also presented. The next steps will involve extensive discussions with the families of the servicemen.
“The mayor's position is clear: the families of the fallen heroes hold the key role in this process - they will vote to determine which option best meets their expectations and memories of their loved ones,” emphasized Pavel Vugelman, deputy mayor of Odesa.
In addition to the memorial topic, social issues concerning the support of the families of the fallen were also raised during the meeting.
The program of events for the Defenders of Ukraine Day, celebrated on October 1, was also discussed.
Among the planned activities are memorial ceremonies, meetings with veterans, educational initiatives, and cultural events aimed at uniting the community around remembrance, gratitude, and shared responsibility.
