Arrest of Kyiv Man for Selling Humanitarian Vehicles in Odesa
In Odesa, law enforcement agencies arrested a Kyiv resident for selling vehicles that were imported for military and charity purposes. The suspect sold three cars, prompting an investigation. He has been charged and remanded in custody.
This was reported by the press service of the law enforcement authorities.
The 43-year-old man organized the import of cars to Ukraine under the guise of humanitarian assistance. He sold these vehicles through online marketplaces.
During the operation, police apprehended him in Odesa while he was selling an Audi and two Mitsubishis for $16,100. Authorities seized the cash, vehicles, and other items of evidential value.
"The suspect was arrested under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine and is charged with selling humanitarian goods for profit, a serious crime during wartime. This offense is punishable by up to seven years in prison with confiscation of property," the statement said.
The court has ordered the suspect to be held in custody with the option of posting bail set at 605,000 UAH. Investigations are ongoing to identify all individuals connected to the case.
