Arrest of Terrorists in Odesa Region

The Odesa Prosecutor's Office has submitted an indictment to the court against three members of an organized crime group for carrying out arson attacks on railway facilities, constituting acts of sabotage during a state of martial law (Part 3 of Article 28, Part 2 of Article 113 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

Investigations revealed that the defendants received instructions from a Russian intelligence agent via messenger to conduct sabotage operations for money at Odesa railway facilities.

In August 2024, using a pre-prepared incendiary mixture, they set fire to 8 relay cabinets on railway lines and stations in the Odesa region.

The arsonists operated following the «classic scheme» of Russian intelligence services. They initially scouted potential targets, obtained approval, then executed the arsons and recorded them on video. For each completed «assignment», they received payments that were distributed among the group members.

Currently, all defendants are in custody.

The pre-trial investigation and operational support were carried out by the Security Service of Ukraine in the Odesa region.

Note: According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent until proven guilty in a lawful manner.
