Severe Rain and Wind Disrupt Electricity Supply in Odessa Region
Heavy rain and strong winds have damaged electrical networks in 30 settlements in the Odessa region. Power restoration is expected by the end of the day.
This was reported by DTEK Odessa Electric Networks and NEC «Ukrenergo».
Energy workers are already on the scene at all emergency sites in the region.
Additionally, «Ukrenergo» noted that electricity consumption has exceeded normal levels over the past three days. This is attributed to cloudy weather with rainfall across significant areas of Ukraine, reducing the efficiency of home solar power plants and leading to increased consumption from the general grid.
Yesterday, May 8, a daily consumption peak was recorded in the evening, matching the peak of the previous day — Wednesday, May 7.
Ukrenergo also urged citizens to conserve electricity and to delay using high-power appliances until nighttime. It is recommended to avoid running multiple devices simultaneously until 10 PM.
