Murder Investigation in the Balta District: Shocking Details
Last October, a mutilated body was found in a forest near one of the settlements in the Balta community. The investigation revealed that two men, aged 62 and 29, were involved, having consumed alcohol with the victim.
This was reported by the police of the Odessa region.
During the gathering, an argument broke out between the men, escalating into a fight – guests against the host. The 29-year-old restrained the homeowner while the older man stabbed him in the chest with a knife he had on him, resulting in a fatal injury.
To cover up the crime and hinder the identification of the deceased, the perpetrators transported the body to the woods, where they dismembered it, including decapitating it, and set it on fire. The younger offender was apprehended at home.
During the pre-trial investigation, the court imposed a preventive measure of detention without the right to bail.
The older man fled immediately after committing the crime and has been evading the investigation. Materials concerning him have been separated into a separate proceeding, and he has been placed on the wanted list.
The vehicle used by the suspects, communication devices, and other items of evidential value were seized and added to the case materials as physical evidence.
The pre-trial investigation concerning the 29-year-old, previously convicted of property crimes, has been completed.
He is charged with murder committed by a group of persons in conspiracy. The case has been forwarded to court.
The maximum penalty for this crime is life imprisonment.
