New Accessible Restrooms in Odesa
Odesa is set to introduce new automatic modular restrooms designed for people with disabilities. This initiative was discussed during the Barrier-Free Council meeting chaired by the city's mayor, Hennadiy Trukhanov.
The expert group of the Barrier-Free Council approached the Department of Municipal Economy to study the implementation of such facilities in Ukraine, particularly in Kyiv.
During the meeting, a module containing two stalls was presented: one of which is spacious enough to accommodate individuals in wheelchairs or mothers with strollers. The metal anti-corrosion stall is equipped with an automatic cleaning function, motion sensors for each feature, as well as a system for automatic unlocking after 15 minutes. It also includes a call button for an operator and a module for cashless payments.
The proposal to install these automatic modular restrooms at Soborna Square, in the City Garden, on Primorsky Boulevard, and on the Avenue of Ukrainian Heroes will be brought to the Odesa City Council session.
