Maintenance of Rainwater Drainage System in Odessa
The municipal enterprise «City Roads» regularly conducts maintenance work on the rainwater drainage systems of the city streets.
Experts perform repairs and cleaning of stormwater collectors, grates of catch basins, rainwater wells, and specialized hydraulic structures such as drainage ditches and buffer ponds.
Cleaning of the rainwater drainage systems in Odessa is carried out continuously according to a plan throughout the city. During heavy rains, emergency crews from «City Roads» additionally work on the streets. The municipal workers clear the grates of catch basins from fallen leaves and debris carried by rainwater, ensuring unobstructed drainage from the city streets.
In the eleven months of the current year, the enterprise's workers have completed cleaning operations: for ditches and channels - 16,887 linear meters, catch basins - 4,374, collectors - 5,273 linear meters, and also flushed sleeves - 23,999 linear meters.
Additionally, the workers have mowed grass on the ditches and channels of hydraulic structures (10,465 linear meters) and cleaned 1,735.6 square meters of the buffer pond.
The cleaning of the rainwater drainage systems is performed manually and with heavy machinery from «City Roads», including excavators, graders, and high-pressure hydraulic systems based on MAN trucks for flushing throughput pipes.
Moreover, specialists from «City Roads» carry out repairs of wells, replace sleeves in catch basins, and raise grates to the road level as needed.
Since the beginning of 2024, the enterprise's workers have installed and replaced 58 grates on catch basins and repaired 34 catch basins with casting replacements.
During operation, the grates of rainwater wells may sink, causing potholes on the roadway, which can lead to accidents. Experts from «City Roads» regularly rectify this situation.
Since the beginning of this year, municipal workers have raised 96 sunken grates of catch basins to the road level and installed 20 inspection wells to the level of the roadway. Additionally, specialists repaired 8 inspection wells with casting replacements and installed cover plates on 4 inspection wells and 12 catch basins.
Furthermore, since the beginning of this year, the enterprise's workers have repaired 45 linear meters of collectors, conducted video inspections of 588 linear meters of collectors, and pumped out 1,081 cubic meters of rainwater from the roadway.
