Odessa Athlete Wins European Youth Festival
A young athlete from Odessa, trained at a local sports school, emerged victorious at the Summer European Youth Olympic Festival.
In the final match, she triumphed over her Turkish opponent, earning a well-deserved accolade.
Ilaria Tsurkan competed in four bouts at the festival held in Skopje, winning each one. In the final, she secured victory with a decisive arm lock.
In February, she impressed everyone with her performance at the senior European Cup in Ljubljana, where she won a bronze medal, and also took first place in three consecutive cadet tournaments in Poreč, Teplice, and Lignano.
This year, Ilaria became the Ukrainian champion in judo among cadets, earned gold at the junior European Judo Cup, and achieved the title of Master of Sports of Ukraine.
Her coach, Oleg Spivak, played a crucial role in her training.
