Junior Judokas Compete for Medals in Uzhhorod
On November 22-23, the Ukrainian judo championship for junior cadets under 17 took place in Uzhhorod.
During the two-day event at the Uzhhorod Scientific Lyceum sports complex, nearly 600 athletes from 23 regions competed for 17 sets of medals.
The team from Odesa region, consisting of students from sports schools No. 4 and No. 15, as well as the regional judo and rugby sports school, secured third place with 3 gold, 2 silver, and 2 bronze medals.
The winners of the championship were representatives from Kyiv, while the Dnipropetrovsk region team took second place.
Contributions to the team’s success were made by Odesa athletes Valeriya Kanikivska (70 kg) and Kyrylo Vasylenych (73 kg), who won silver and bronze medals respectively.
Trainer Serhii Yermakov prepared the athletes for the competition.
