Art Exhibition "Blood is Life" at Odessa Church
The Odessa Church, known as the Lutheran Church of St. Paul, hosted an exhibition titled "Blood is Life," showcasing paintings, posters, and experimental art objects.
This exhibition aims to creatively reinterpret the significance of blood donation through artistic expressions and was organized in collaboration with the project "Donor Odessa" by faculty and students from the Southern Ukrainian National Pedagogical University named after K.D. Ushynsky.
The theme of loving one's neighbor and saving lives through blood donation is closely aligned with Christian values.
Symbolically, a mural depicting a large red stain, representing the blood of Jesus Christ, adorns the altar of the Odessa Church, uniting all who approach the altar and partake in the body and blood of Christ during communion.
"In blood donation, people share their blood regardless of nationality, beliefs, or personal views. If we believe in one God, everything else that divides us should be secondary. Today, we aim to showcase our unity and readiness to help our neighbors," said Pastor Alexander Gross during the exhibition opening.
The opening also featured the awarding of certificates and gifts to students and faculty who contributed significantly to the exhibition's creation.
Honored Artist of Ukraine Dmitry Velichko, along with other faculty members, created over 40 pieces that highlight the beauty of donation and inspire involvement in saving lives.
This is the first exhibition in Ukraine featuring 3D art objects on the theme of blood donation, displayed in the cathedral's premises.
The exhibition will be open to visitors for the next month.
Address: Novoselskogo St., 68, Church.
Admission is free.
