Restoration of Architectural Heritage in Odesa
The mayor of Odesa, Hennadiy Trukhanov, held a meeting to discuss the condition of architectural heritage buildings affected in the UNESCO zone and talked with their residents.
Recently, a UNESCO mission visited Odesa to document the consequences of the Russian attack on this World Heritage site.
Currently, emergency measures are being taken to restore the integrity of the roofing, except for the most damaged parts of the buildings, where the upper floors are nearly destroyed.
In these areas, structural damage to the buildings is being assessed. More extensive work is needed to address these issues, which requires permission from the state authorities responsible for cultural heritage protection.
During the meeting with the Deputy Minister for Community and Territorial Development Vasyl Shkurakov, the mayor of Odesa raised concerns about eliminating legislative gaps that hinder residents of heritage buildings from receiving compensation under the eRecovery program.
