Fanny Lechevalier's Exhibition in Odesa: Art Reflecting Reality

A new exhibition by French artist Fanny Lechevalier titled «In memoriam. Reality through Art» has opened in Odesa.

The exhibition will be held at the Museum of Contemporary Art until June 17.

Lechevalier's exhibit serves as a unique visual dialogue between history and the present, bridging classical European painting and the harsh realities of war in Ukraine. This project combines art, documentary, and charity.

The artist employs photomontage techniques, layering images from war correspondents with reproductions of recognizable classical artworks.

The result is striking imagery that prompts a reevaluation of the tragedies unfolding at Europe's borders.

One of the key goals of the project is to raise funds for the establishment of a rehabilitation hub where patients can receive educational and psychological recovery support.

At the exhibition's opening, Odesa's Deputy Mayor Pavlo Vugelman emphasized that everyone has their front in this war.

«Ms. Lechevalier, through her art, allows the world to feel the immense sorrow occurring in our land», said Pavlo Vugelman.

The exhibition is organized by the charity fund Solidarity, which focuses on rebuilding Ukraine and providing comprehensive support to those affected by war.

Matthew-Marie Arden, head of the Solidarity fund, stressed that Odesa is a significant cultural location within Ukraine. «This exhibition symbolizes European solidarity with Ukraine», he stated.

After Odesa, the «In memoriam. Reality through Art» project will be presented in Chernihiv, Kharkiv, Mykolaiv, and Lviv. The exhibition has already taken place in Kyiv.
