Remarkable Achievements of Ukrainian Students at the International Contest
From May 31 to June 3, 2024, Bucharest (Romania) hosted the world finals of the International Computer Projects Contest INFOMATRIX-2024.
This year, the competition brought together 280 students from 17 countries, showcasing 165 projects. Ukraine was represented by a team of 18 students from Zhytomyr, Kyiv, Odesa, Kharkiv, and Chernihiv with 12 projects. The participants competed in five categories: Programming, Computer Art, Hardware Control, Short Movie, and Hackathon.
The jury evaluated both the projects and the participants' presentations in English. As a result of the competition, the Ukrainian team earned 5 bronze, 6 silver, and 1 platinum medal.
Specifically, the bronze medals were awarded to:
- Ruslan Maysko and Ivan Zmiyevskoy, 8th graders from Odesa Lyceum No. 65 for their project “The Meaning of Life and My Place in It” (supervised by informatics teacher Alla Omelchenko);
- Yegor Bovkun, a 10th grader from Odesa Lyceum No. 65 for his project “Model of the First Helicopter in the World” (supervised by informatics teacher Oleg Pustovoyt).
This recognition on an international level demonstrates the strong potential of our students in the field of information technology.
Since 2009, Ukraine has been a full participant in the world finals of INFOMATRIX. The multi-stage selection of finalists and the organization of team participation at the world finals have traditionally been conducted by the National Ecological and Naturalistic Center for Student Youth of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.
