Campaign Against Violence: Changing Attitudes in Society

Every year in Ukraine, from November 25 to December 10, the national campaign “16 Days Against Violence” takes place.

This initiative aims to engage youth in addressing issues of domestic violence, combating human trafficking, and protecting women's rights as well as addressing child abuse. Thematic events will be held in educational institutions across Odesa.

Throughout November and December, young residents of Odesa will participate in activities dedicated to the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, a city-wide amateur video contest on combating violence, and the flash mob “A Person Begins with Kindness” on Facebook.

Schools will host a thematic educational hour “Together Against Violence”, an exhibition of children's drawings and photo works “#HappуFamilyinOdessa”, workshops, round table discussions, interactive sessions, video screenings, and more.

For high school students, an interactive card game “Creating a Safety Circle!” and an interactive game “Youth and Police Together Against Violence” will be organized.

During the “16 Days Against Violence” campaign, the results of the city competition “How I Understand Gender” will be summarized.

For educators, a psychological film club will be held to discuss relevant thematic films, training in the “Safety Circle” gaming method, and practical seminars with elements of training to develop mechanisms for interaction with other organizations regarding the prevention and combating of domestic violence, gender-based violence, and bullying.

The prevention of domestic violence and bullying in schools will be discussed during training sessions by psychological service specialists.

With the participation of representatives from state and public organizations working in the field of violence prevention, informational parent workshops, lectures, and consultations titled “Family – A Space Without Violence” will be conducted.
