Merger of Maritime Universities: A New Educational Horizon
A significant event has occurred in Odessa: two leading maritime institutions are coming together as one. This decision was made during a meeting between representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and the leadership of the National University “Odessa Maritime Academy” and the Odessa National Maritime University.
The Deputy Minister of Education and Science, Mykhailo Vynnytskyi, held discussions with the heads of both universities, recognizing the necessity of creating a unified educational institution.
During the meeting, details of the merger were discussed, including the timeline for implementation and management of the newly formed institution.
The primary goal of this initiative is to establish a strong, modern maritime university in Ukraine that will enhance the quality of maritime education.
Earlier reports indicated that the academy was to be integrated into the university, which faced resistance from the academy’s leadership.
