Odessa and France Forge Health Cooperation Agreement
The city of Odessa and the French Republic have signed a significant cooperation agreement in the healthcare sector. A key aspect of this agreement is the establishment of a Mental Health Center within one of Odessa's clinical hospitals.
The ongoing military actions have impacted many, particularly veterans and displaced persons. It is crucial to ensure access to quality psychological support for all city residents.
A working group is already operational in Odessa, assessing the technical condition and infrastructure of medical facilities. In the future, a visit from French doctors is anticipated to share professional knowledge and practical skills.
«Our goal is to work together with Expertise France to create conditions where everyone in need of assistance can receive it promptly and without barriers. Supporting mental health is not just about treating illnesses; it also involves prevention, education, and combating stigma. We aim to build a healthy community where everyone feels secure,» stated Gennady Trukhanov.
The Mayor of Odessa expressed gratitude to the French people and government for their attention to the city and invaluable assistance, highlighting the personal contributions of the French Embassy in Ukraine to the development of cooperation and urban initiatives.
From the Odessa City Council, the memorandum was signed by Mayor Gennady Trukhanov, while Ms. Sofia Oliynyk, director of Expertise France in Ukraine, represented France.
Also present at the signing ceremony were Deputy Minister of Health of Ukraine Igor Kopach and head of the French Development Agency (AFD) office in Ukraine, Ms. Axel Nos.
The memorandum outlines comprehensive cooperation in healthcare, particularly addressing issues related to mental health, rehabilitation, oncology, and cardiovascular diseases.
