Odessa Maternity Hospital Renovation: Enhanced Care for Mothers and Infants
The Mayor of Odessa, Gennady Trukhanov, held a meeting with representatives of the International Medical Corps to discuss significant updates in medical infrastructure.
In 2024, the renovation of the shelter at Maternity Hospital No. 5, including upgrades to ventilation, water supply, heating, and drainage systems, was completed.
The shelter is now fully equipped with essential medical devices and a powerful oxygen concentrator for artificial ventilation of the lungs.
Currently, optimal conditions have been created for childbirth and providing medical assistance to mothers and their newborns.
Additionally, the International Medical Corps has renovated basement areas to establish a temporary shelter for residents of neighboring buildings.
"We are grateful to our partners for their support. We have equipped the maternity hospital with three powerful generators for backup power, specifically for the shelter and women’s clinic," stated Gennady Trukhanov.
Furthermore, modern resuscitation equipment for the intensive care unit and a Class C ambulance have been purchased with city budget funds.
Maternity Hospital No. 5 specializes in providing obstetric care for preterm births and intensive therapy for newborns with extremely low birth weight - starting from 500 grams.
