Advanced Surgical Techniques at Odessa Hospital
City Clinical Hospital No. 1 (Jewish Hospital) is home to a cutting-edge department specializing in minimally invasive and high-tech surgical procedures. This department is located in the refurbished main building of the hospital, renovated with funds from the Odessa city budget. Equipped with the latest technology, experienced surgeons utilize modern European protocols.
Every week, the department performs over 40 surgical procedures, with 80% being minimally invasive methods (laparoscopy, thoracoscopy, etc.). The department conducts endoscopic surgeries on abdominal organs such as the liver, kidneys, pancreas, thyroid gland, bladder, lungs, esophagus, uterus, and ovaries. Additionally, minor surgical interventions are performed using ultrasound-guided percutaneous punctures.
Last year, over 5400 surgeries and more than 1500 endoscopic examinations were conducted, including: 873 trauma surgeries, 847 gynecological surgeries, 441 urological surgeries, 511 ENT surgeries, 311 thoracic surgeries, and 126 vascular surgeries.
Advantages of minimally invasive surgery include:
- reduced trauma: smaller incisions result in less bleeding and pain post-operation;
- quicker recovery: patients typically return to their normal lives much faster than after traditional surgery;
- better cosmetic outcomes: smaller scars and lower risk of complications.
