Enhanced Accessibility for Disabled Individuals in Odessa
The city of Odessa has received a humanitarian shipment consisting of two new Mercedes-Benz Sprinter minibuses from Regensburg.
These vehicles will be assigned to territorial social service centers and will be utilized in the municipal program 'Social Taxi'.
The minibuses are already adapted for transporting disabled individuals, but they require additional equipment for the comfortable transport of wheelchair users.
The 'Social Taxi' initiative is implemented by the Odessa City Council in partnership with the NGO 'Barrier-Free', which provides specialized transportation for disabled individuals to various institutions.
Currently, there are 6 specialized vehicles operating in Odessa, and the demand for the service remains high – over 1200 applications have been processed. The minibuses provided by Regensburg will allow for an increase in transportation capacity.
'Thank you to Regensburg for their support! Odessa values our friendship and assistance. This is not just transportation; it is an opportunity for disabled individuals to access essential services, feel mobile, and independent,' said Odessa Mayor Gennady Trukhanov.
Disabled individuals can order the social taxi via the MISTO app or by calling the short number: 15-01.
