“Mobility Without Barriers” Project: Odesa Demonstrates Success Again

Odesa showcased its advancements once again at the national meeting concerning the «Barrier-Free Movement» project.

On June 18, 2025, the Ministry of Community and Territorial Development of Ukraine hosted the second meeting dedicated to the implementation of this significant initiative.

The event was chaired by Oleksiy Kuleba, the Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine, with participation from Deputy Minister Nataliia Kozlovska.

Oleksandr Zhiltsov, the Secretary of the Barrier-Free Council under the Odesa Mayor, reported on the progress of the city’s Accessibility Plan and presented new projects being launched in Odesa. Special focus was given to critical locations such as hospitals, transport hubs, and social institutions where creating an accessible environment is essential.

Currently, Odesa is actively working on inclusive bus stops, a social taxi service is operational, and medical facilities are being adapted, along with solutions to support veterans and people with reduced mobility.

All barrier-free initiatives in Odesa are spearheaded by Mayor Hennadii Trukhanov and coordinated by the Barrier-Free Council of the Odesa City Council.

It’s important to remind that Odesa is one of the pilot communities participating in the «Barrier-Free Movement» project under the National Strategy for Creating a Barrier-Free Environment in Ukraine by 2030, patronized by the First Lady of Ukraine, Olena Zelenska.
