New Greenhouse Initiative in Bolgrad

A farmer from Vynogradivka village, Yuriy Syurma, plans to establish a new greenhouse complex within the Bolgrad community. The Bolgrad City Council has supported the entrepreneur, and after an open auction, Yuriy has secured the right to lease eight hectares of land for his agricultural project.

Yuriy Syurma is an experienced farmer specializing in organic vegetable cultivation without chemical fertilizers. Last year, he successfully produced crops on three hectares and decided to expand his operations.

“I wanted to scale up my business, so I approached the city council. They supported my idea, designated the plot, held an auction — and I managed to win,” Yuriy Syurma shared.

The entrepreneur plans to grow various crops including zucchini, strawberries, watermelons, corn, and tomatoes. All products will be organic, as the farmer believes this is a significant challenge in a region where traditional agrochemicals are widely used.

“We want to restore the taste of genuine vegetables and trust in food among Ukrainians. People should know that this is not just 'water with foam' but a natural product grown with care,” the farmer emphasized.

The first harvest from the new plot is expected after the completion of preparatory works. This year, the farm will focus on establishing irrigation systems and preparing the soil. Yuriy also expressed gratitude to the mayor for assistance with organizational matters, particularly regarding water supply.

In the long term, the project will create 20-30 permanent jobs for community residents.

“Don't be afraid to approach the authorities with your ideas. If one door doesn't open — another will surely be found,” Yuriy advises those dreaming of starting their own business.

The Bolgrad City Council emphasizes that the development of local entrepreneurship and support for proactive residents is one of the community's priorities.
