Update on Urban Greening in Odesa for 2025
At the start of 2025, the «Miskzelentrest» in Odesa removed 958 hazardous and dead trees and uprooted over 800 tree stumps.
The work was carried out in response to citizens' requests, due to adverse weather conditions, or as part of city improvement programs.
This autumn, the planting of around 1,000 young trees such as ashes, sophora, linden, maples, and others is planned. Most young trees will be planted in the locations where old trees were removed. All saplings are large-caliber and suited for urban environments.
Stump removal is a very challenging task. Until this year, municipal services lacked specialized equipment for stump removal, significantly complicating and prolonging the process. Currently, the work is being performed using new machinery, including the Rotor Speedy 80/100 stump grinder and the KATA KF1404 tractor with a power of 140 horsepower, designed for timely and quality stump removal.
With the new equipment, the greening teams significantly reduce the time spent on these physically demanding tasks by mechanizing the process: if previously 12 hours were allocated for manual stump removal, now the entire process for a 70 cm diameter stump takes only 40 minutes.
