Revitalization of Key Infrastructure in Odesa
Major restoration work on the chimney of the «North-2» boiler house, damaged by severe weather in November 2023, has been successfully completed.
The restoration was made possible through financial support from UNICEF. The chimney of the municipal boiler house «Odesa Heating» is now operational, supplying heat to 120,000 residents as well as educational and healthcare facilities in the area.
«This winter, UNICEF's priority has been to provide warmth to families and children, while also ensuring the continuity of essential services they rely on – including healthcare, electricity, water supply, sanitation, and educational institutions, particularly in areas hardest hit by the war,» said Munir Mamedzade, head of the UNICEF office in Ukraine.
On behalf of the Odesa community, Mayor Hennadiy Trukhanov expressed sincere gratitude to UNICEF for its steadfast support and collaboration.
«The completed project is a shining example of international cooperation and the support we feel across the board, especially in the restoration and development of our city’s critical infrastructure. Together, we are prepared to meet contemporary challenges and provide comfortable living conditions for our citizens,» the Mayor of Odesa remarked.
The Mayor also shared that the restoration of the boiler house itself is ongoing, but it does not affect the heating supply process for the residents of Odesa.
