Revitalization of the Heroes' Tribune Square in Odesa
Starting from August 9, 2024, Odesa has initiated extensive renovation works at Heroes' Tribune Square (Tolbukhina).
The large-scale project was carried out in stages, involving the repair of the roadway, external lighting, and tram tracks.
As stated by Odesa's mayor, Hennadii Trukhanov, new modern trams have arrived in the city, which necessitated repairs on certain sections of the old tracks for their safe passage.
The renovation at Heroes' Tribune Square was completed ahead of schedule. Thanks to the updated rail bed and elevated asphalt surface, the traffic capacity for vehicles around the square has significantly improved.
Moreover, traffic lights have been adjusted based on prior traffic analysis.
Additionally, the square has been beautified—new road markings have been implemented, and the lighting has been upgraded to a more efficient and economical system. As a result, nighttime movement in this area has become safer, and tram operations are now smoother and quieter.
