Young Athletes Showcase Their Skills in Odessa
Young athletes from Odessa are showcasing their skills at the event «Inter-School Sports League Championships».
The grand opening of the III (city) stage of the «Inter-School Sports League Championships» took place at Odessa Lyceum No. 84.
This year, over 260 school teams will compete in sports such as basketball, volleyball, futsal, orienteering, rugby, handball, cheerleading, athletics, and chess.
Last year, the number of participating teams was 119, indicating a growing enthusiasm among Odessa's students.
«Sports strengthen not just the body but also the spirit. Engaging students in sports lays the foundation for their future», - emphasized the importance of the project by Odessa's Mayor Gennady Trukhanov.
The mayor also reminded that Odessa is one of the first cities to implement the «Path to Champions» program aimed at training future Olympic champions from school age.
The event was held as part of a unified physical education lesson titled «Odessa's Education on a Sporting Wave», organized by the Department of Education and Science of the Odessa City Council.
