New Assessment System for 9th Grade Students

In 2028, a new state final certification system (DPA) is set to be introduced for 9th grade students, covering two main areas – language-literature and mathematics. However, the full implementation of this system will not occur until at least 2029.
This information was provided by the Ukrainian Center for Educational Quality Assessment.
In the fall of 2026, Ukraine plans to test new tools and procedures for the DPA related to language-literature (state language) and mathematics education.
Approximately 2000 students from 10th grade in schools that piloted the New Ukrainian School educational methodology will be involved in this process.
For 2027, the continuation of DPA-9 piloting is scheduled.
"We plan to test refined tools and procedures for assessing student achievements in language-literature and mathematics, using a new educational platform currently being developed by IT specialists," the UCEQA stated.
Additionally, primary testing of tools in other educational fields such as civic education, history, natural sciences, information technology, and foreign languages is also planned for 2027.
By 2028, a fully operational DPA-9 is expected to launch, encompassing language-literature (state language) and mathematics, with concurrent piloting of tools for other fields.
Thus, the comprehensive implementation of DPA-9 as a coherent system is projected no earlier than 2029, according to UCEQA.
It is worth noting that starting in 2027, 4th grade students in Ukrainian schools will undergo state final certification (DPA) in the format of external independent assessment (ZNO).
