Safety Awareness Month: Children and Traffic
In educational institutions of Odessa, the Safety Awareness Month titled «Attention! Children on the Road!» is underway.
The main goal of this initiative is to prevent traffic accidents involving children, instill safe behavior on the road, engage youth in learning and adhering to traffic rules, and promote a conscious attitude towards personal and public safety.
In schools across the Peresyp district, classes titled «Follow the Rules – Save Lives» and «Know Traffic Signs – Avoid Trouble» have been conducted, where students discussed essential road safety rules, watched educational videos, and participated in quizzes.
Open exhibitions of children’s drawings and creative works entitled «Safe Country!», «Attention! Children on the Road!», «Traffic Rules Alphabet», and «We are Pedestrians!» have also taken place.
Class teachers held discussions with students on the topic of «My Safe Journey to Knowledge» and assisted children in developing individual safe routes to school and back.
A fascinating experience for students was the introduction to a real special vehicle – a police car. Together with officers, children reviewed pedestrian rules and reinforced their knowledge of traffic rules through games like «I am the Traffic Controller» and «Road Safety».
Inspectors explained in an accessible and engaging manner the importance of using reflective elements at night, emphasized the rules for crossing roads and using public transport.
For preschoolers, thematic classes were held on topics such as «Attention! Children on the Road», «Know Traffic Signs – Avoid Trouble», «Traffic Rules Alphabet», «I am a Little Pedestrian», «My Behavior on Public Transport», «Rules for Crossing Intersections», and «I’m Going to Kindergarten». Preschoolers learned the basic rules for pedestrian behavior and studied traffic signs and their meanings.
