School Meals Guaranteed for Young Students in Odesa Until Year-End
In Odesa, young students will be assured meals until the end of the academic year.
Odesa City Council members have voted to allocate an additional 20 million UAH from the city budget.
The funding for student meals comes from a combination of state subsidies and local budget – 70% and 30%, respectively.
Currently, the state subsidy has run out, and additional funding is not anticipated at this time.
“I believe it is wrong to stop meals midway through the academic year. I am glad that most of you share this opinion. The decision made will ensure meals for this academic year regardless of the state subsidy’s availability,” noted Odesa Mayor Hennadiy Trukhanov.
